I have been working on a couple of paintings featuring the landscape around the beautiful Yorkshire 3 Peaks.
These first pieces focus on Pen-y-Ghent and Ingleborough and will be shown in the Stonegate Gallery in Ingleton.
It is the first time I have exhibited work in another gallery since opening my own shop in 2015.
To be asked to paint something specific to another part of this beautiful country was quite an exciting challenge. But being unable to head up to the area immediately to sketch and explore, I had to do it a little differently and research and draw preliminary sketches from photographs.
It was actually lovely to paint landscape scenes, different to my usual coastal locations and am quite taken with the beautiful rugged rocks strewn around the land in this area. I am definitely keen to take a trip up at the end of the season to get stuck in to some on location work!
Pen-y-Ghent has featured in the window display at the Stonegate Gallery so if you are visiting Ingleton, pop in and have a look around.
