'Nature is Watching' Lino Print Design and Process

A new nature inspired lino print design is underway here at the gallery studio!

Have you ever walked in the wilderness and wondered whether the insects and animals, fungus and ferns are watching as you pass by?!

...maybe it's just me then!

Anyway, here is my new lino cut design, inspired by this thought and some of my favourite things that nature has to offer.

This is the initial drawing which is then transferred onto the piece of lino. I then carve out all of the sections that need to stay white in the final image...this can take quite a few hours and some brutal finger pain!

...then, a couple of days later, inked up in a midnight blue, it's the first pull off the press...

A lot of time goes into the carving of a block and it's always exciting to peel back that first print and see what you have produced!

I'm hoping that the main circular design will translate well onto lampshades and cushions and I'm hoping to add the text for clothing so watch this space!

Original lino prints are available as limited runs of 50 per colour way. Have a look at Original work in the Art tab to see current stock.
