Twilight Lanes

Twilight Lanes

First fresh paintings of the winter!

With the nights being so dark so early at this time of year I have been loving driving the back lanes, when the sky turns a deep vibrant blue and the headlights catch the verges and the wet road ahead.

Twilight, when the trees are spooky shadows against an inky blue... I took a series of photos (from the passenger seat obvs!) capturing the colours and shapes that loom up then pass by as you negotiate our infamous single track lanes here in Devon.

I've been using these 30cm square cradled wood panels all last season and have now ordered little 15cm square too, they are great to work on as a set and would definitely hang together nicely!

I love the sense of movement and of impending darkness and also you can't beat a telegraph pole or two with those wires to give a little perspective!

I can see that I will be revisiting this series and adding more over the coming weeks as they were really enjoyable to paint.

These will be framed and available to buy on the website here or in store.
